Parents-Coaches-Refs - EXPECTATIONS
Kids model adult behavior, so it is vital that we as adults manage ourselves as spectators and coaches in the appropriate manner while at these Sunday afternoon games. The policy is ZERO TOLERANCE for any aggressive language or behavior towards: Officials, Other Coaches, ANY Player, or other spectators. Remember, when sitting on the sideline talking to your group members that the parents of the child you may be making a critical comment about may be sitting within earshot of you. Now put the shoe on the other foot. How would you like it if someone was being critical of your child? So, let's stay CLASSY and enjoy watching the kids learn and figure out this wonderful, wonderful game.
Study after study have shown that the ages of 12-15 yrs old are critical for participation in sport. We lose many, many kids during this time because the game becomes "not fun" anymore. One of the biggest reasons kids cite as to the "why the game had lost its enjoyment was due to overly critical adults (parents and coaches). Let's stay Classy and Positive with the officials, other parents, other coaches, and ALL of the kids. The winning will come later in high school when it matters because these kids will still LOVE to play this game, and maybe a few of them will be lucky enough to play at the next level!
